The Cognitive Supply Chain is NOW
July 2, 2024 | 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM BST
Sustainability being a business decision is taken to new levels of agility, quality and relevance when the filters of AI and cloud are placed in-between. After years of stagnancy and confusion, the connection between profit and planet can finally be made. A resistance to change is no longer just an operational hazard. By seeing the relationship between profit and planet more clearly, decisionmakers should be convinced of investments beyond them just being a tick-box exercise. The mindset is thus shifted.
In today’s environment, it would be easy to feel adrift in a sea of menacing external forces. For most of us, what we experience and manage in our immediate worlds is much safer and more stable. We are not hapless participants, but powerful co-creators of this global experience. Businesses must respond by implementing processes and technologies that enable them to not only spot risks of disruption much earlier, but to then act upon them in the most efficient and sustainable way possible. The need for collaboration and staying connected has never been greater. Let’s grab the wheel and steer toward control and success!
Join us on July 2, 2024 in London for a unique in-person event to:
- How Do You Thrive in a No Growth/Low Growth Environment? The reality for businesses might be 1-ish% growth for the largest global economy. Building a sustainable and resilient supply chain means laying down strategies for predicting and responding to disruption efficiently, with an acceptable impact on both profit and planet. Where are you and your team on this journey? Lessons learned?
- Generative AI: A recent Gartner study shows that nearly 80% of supply chain respondents plan to pilot or implement GenAI capabilities in 2024 using an average of 6% of the overall supply chain technology and transformation budget. What does this mean for you in your role and your company?
- ESG/Climate: Supply chain leaders will need to continue investing in climate resilience and adaptability to work through natural disasters in 2024. A raft of rules and regulations tied to sustainability and ethical labor practices driven mostly by the European Union, but also the United Kingdom and United States will increase the cost of reporting and potentially the overall cost of running supply chains. 2024 will also be a year that sees more companies recalibrate their positions on ambitious sustainability goals like net-zero emissions as they realize their original commitments were untenable.
- Talent & Leadership: The supply chain employees may leave. Really?! Embrace the turnover?

Nobody could have predicted the events of the turn of the decade. The Pandemic followed by the invasion of Ukraine has had dramatic impacts on the availability of raw materials and finished goods. Combined with unprecedented increases in energy prices, and general economic stability these impacts might lead us to believe that cost control is the new religion. This session will explain how research is showing that the most effective Cost Control is achieved through a resilient and End-to-End approach to supply chain planning. A combination of visibility, planning, trust and collaboration, can support a shift from long-term planning to short-term survival tactics.

Knauf Insulation’s mission is to challenge conventional thinking and create innovative building materials solutions that shape the way we live and build in the future. In order to meet new customer demands as well as achieving their ambitious sustainability goals, they knew they had to transform the way they operate. This included their supply chain and demand planning. In this Q&A session their project lead will share what an implementation of this magnitude requires, what success looks like and questions you need answered before you even begin.

- 10:30 – 10:50 Let’s Be Honest! Are Traditional Planning Cycles Responsive Enough to Deal with Todays Short Term Disruptions?
How relevant are traditional planning methods in today’s challenging economic conditions. What are leading companies doing to connect strategic, tactical and operational decision making into financially aware and scenario driven processes. The emergence of true Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and Sales and Operations Execution (S&OE) as what-if business tools is helping leading companies to deliver a trustworthy service whilst maintaining effective cost control in the new VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) environment. How do manufacturers make the transition quickly by focusing on end to end processes and agile implementations.
- 10:50 - 11:15 Alfa Laval Positioned to Play Essential Role in Transforming Industrial Field
No chain is stronger than its weakest link. With growing demand volatility and increased complexity in the supply chain, it’s essential for organizations to have the tools and knowledge you need to quickly – and accurately – predict multichannel customer demand. So how do you achieve material results, including greater forecast accuracy, reduced inventory and increased planner productivity ? Hear from Alfa Laval as they share their experiences of implementing a new Planning system to be better positions to efficiently serve customers in the future.
Speakers: Gunhild Sträng, Director Spare Parts Operations, Alfa Laval
- 11:15 – 11:40 How Do You Improve Customer Loyalty by Connecting Order Management and Planning?
In todays constrained environments, where inflation is significantly increasing ‘work in progress’ costs there is pressure to significantly reduce inventories. The eternal balancing act is to ensure the best service levels for your customers whilst achieving lower inventories and shorter lead times. Combining approaches which drive sustainability with new technology can maximize the availability your key customers need when supply is scarce and allow a business to maximize sales revenues. This session will explain how companies have addressed this conundrum in the past and how technology has made these approaches available for manufacturers across all industries.
